Listen to the Pew Research Center’s Paul Taylor on NPR’s Talk of the Nation yesterday, on the historical and recent shifts in race relations in America.

Taylor:

“We are on a path to become what some have called a majority-minority nation or a plurality nation. So, you know, we’ve been dealing as a society for race for 400 years, not very well. It’s mostly been a binary black-white checkerboard, if you will. It’s a much more confusing checkerboard. And inevitably the lines are getting blurred.”
